The US Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) respirable crystalline silica standard sets the permissible exposure limit (PEL) for quartz dust at 50 micrograms per cubic meter (µg/m³) and the action level at 25 µg/m³. Above the action level, engineering controls, respiratory protection and periodic sampling are required. The standard applies to worker exposure control at metal mines, nonmetal mines, and ore-processing / cement / aggregate plants. For cement, lime, aggregate and mining operations this means the traditional 'compressed-air blowdown' must be replaced with safer dust-control methods.

压缩空气吹扫会把沉积的硅尘重新扬起,使周边人员短时暴露于远超 PEL 的浓度,是最被监管诟病的违规做法。MSHA 与 OSHA 的粉尘管控逻辑一致:优先采用工程控制——局部负压吸尘、湿式降尘、密闭与隔离——把粉尘浓度从源头压到限值以下,而非靠个人防护装备(PPE)兜底。吹扫仅在极少数无法替代的场合被严格限制使用。
Blowing with compressed air re-suspends settled silica dust, spiking nearby workers' short-term exposure far above the PEL—the most criticized violation in enforcement. MSHA and OSHA share the same logic: prioritize engineering controls—local exhaust vacuum, wet suppression, enclosure and isolation—to push dust below the limit at the source, not rely on PPE as the backstop. Blowdown is restricted to very few irreplaceable cases.

A practical plant-dust program combines three elements: (1) industrial vacuums do point negative-pressure recovery of dust around equipment, platforms and pits to avoid re-suspension; (2) dry sweepers / sweepers handle continuous broad-area floor cleaning, replacing manual stirring; (3) spray or wet suppression at crushers, transfer and loading points. Together they sharply cut respirable crystalline silica and satisfy the 'engineering-controls-first' compliance direction.

水泥、煤粉、部分矿粉属于可燃粉尘,清扫设备若在非防爆环境下产生火花或静电,有粉尘爆炸风险。可燃粉尘区域必须使用通过整机 EX 防爆认证的工业吸尘器,配套防静电滤芯、导静电软管与泄爆设计;普通机型严禁进入此类区域。选型时务必向厂家确认认证范围与适用分区。
Cement, coal and some mineral powders are combustible dust; sweeping equipment that sparks or builds static in a non-explosion-proof environment risks a dust explosion. Combustible-dust zones require whole-machine EX-certified industrial vacuums with anti-static filters, conductive hoses and explosion-relief design; ordinary units must never enter such areas. Always confirm the certification scope and zone with the manufacturer.
